The 'GOOD' parts of Smallville - The City

Too ashamed to go down to your local library, stand at the young adult section & read novels based on a WB show? Not to worry, I've taken it upon myself to transcript the 'GOOD' parts from the Smallville novel: 'The City'. So you can giggle away without that snooty librarian looking at you funny.

Lex didn't bother to get out of his car, but his eyes sparkled as he smiled up at his friend.
"Hey Clark! Enjoying Fall break?" Clark had come to stand by the driver's side, hands thrust deep into his pockets as he admired the shiny car.
"Yup. New wheels?"
"What can I say?" Lex grinned. "I've got a weakness for things that move fast."

Inside, as Lex had predicted, Jonathan was wholly opposed to the idea.
"Besides," the elder Kent was arguing, as Martha stood in the kitchen shaking her head, "what does a twenty-something want a sixteen-year-old hanging around his penthouse for?"

"How am I suppose to show you a good time if you're dressed like a ranch hand?" Lex asked with an elegant arch of his eyebrow. His amusement was not lost on Clark, who jumped as the tailor went to measure his inseam.
"Hey, what're you-?"
"It's ok Clark, he's suppose to do that."
"This is too small." Clark sulked, turning his attention back to the mirror. The tailor stood and jotted down numbers on a small pad he held as Lex smiled and came forward to lower Clark's arms and smooth out the shoulders on his suit jacket.
"It looks good. Shows off your physique."

"And I wouldn't want to take you to some fancy restaurant or anything," he smirked. Clark followed as Lex began walking, although he had no idea where they were head. "No offense, Clark," Lex continued with a mischievous gleam in his eyes, "but you're not really my type."
"Oh, I know. I'm emotionally available and uninterestd in your money."
"Ouch!" Lex laughed. "Is this a comment on my taste in dates?"...
...
"Don't worry, Kent" He chukled. "She'll see the light. That innocent, relucant hero thing you got going is irrestistable."
"Even in jeans?"
Especially in jeans," Lex laughed. For the millionth time today, he thought about how lucky he was to know Clark Kent.

..The smiled turned into a laugh as Lex removed his socks and pants, then slid open the kitchen door to the balcony. "What are you doing?"
"Hot tub," Lex said. "Join me?"
Outside on the balcony, Lex was already sliding the top off the tub. Clark became dimly aware of an electronic buzzing noise in the apartment, but didn't think anything of it as he made a quick pit stop in the guest bathroom to grab a pair of towels, then joined his friend.
Stream was coming off the bubbling water as Clark stepped out onto the balcony, leaving the glass door open behind him. Lex was leaning back in the hot water with his eyes closed as Clark slipped in across from him. Liquid warmth seeped into every muscle, the buzzing sound from the apartment unheard over the nighttime city noises, and Clark found himself beginning to relax.
...(later on the page)...
"This is nice," Clark signed, sinking farther into the roiling water. Lex opened his eyes and scretched.
"I was thinking about this on whole drive down. Can I get you a drink?"
"No thanks, I'm fine," Clark answered, letting his own eyes close. Without moving much, Lex reached into a cooler behind him and pulled out a chilled bottle of sparkling water.
...
Lex paused, thnking for the millionth time of the day they'd met. ... "I suggest you go to bed, Clark." Lex said as he averted his gaze. "It's late, and I feel confident that the city of Metropolis--known, after all, as the City of Tomorrow--will be safe without you at least until dawn." Lex smiled again and placed his empty water bottle on the tited side of the hot tub before reaching around to grab the towel Clark had left for him. "Besides," he muttered "your mother would kill me if she knew I kept you up this late." ... Lex turned and offered him a lazy smile. "Sleep well, Clark." he answered, watching the teenager head back into the penthouse, water beeding on his powerfully built body and a red towel hooked around his waist.

"Yeah, fine, Dad I just wanted to say hi..Hey, um..." Clark paused, looked over his shoulder at Lex's bedroom door, and dropped his voice slightly. "...Do you think there will ever be a time when I won't have to, you know, hide-everything?"

More to come later..
